Service Writer Position
Hancock Repair is looking for a knowledgeable, friendly service writer to join our talented truck and auto repair team. The right candidate in this role would serve as the point of contact for all our truck and automotive customers, from arrival, to service explanation, to payment. This candidate will need to possess strong communication skills, a compassionate and patient attitude, and must have the ability to perform basic math skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet customers upon arrival and ascertain reason for customer visit through face-to-face interview and visual assessment of their vehicle
- Connect customers with appropriate automotive mechanic or technician regarding appropriate service options
- Develop as many solution methods as possible with proper explanation, and attempting to keep their costs low with proper estimates
- Provide in-depth information on original equipment manufacturer (OEM) part options, and advise customers on warranty protections and other potential cost-saving service options
- Keep track of maintenance or repair status, fill out accurate reports on labor and cost of all services
- Complete a post-service vehicle inspection with all customers and answer any questions they may have about their service appointment
- Perform customer service duties including answering the phone, scheduling service appointments, calling customers when their vehicles are ready for pick up, and facilitate financial transactions and customer transactions
- Work with supervisor on workflow and schedule for mechanics and technicians
Requirements And Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Display good interpersonal communication skills
- Possess the ability to explain complicated automotive concepts to customers who may not have a lot of industry terminology for service repair tasks
- Compassionate, patient demeanor in all tasks
- Utilize consistent problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Extensive knowledge base of the truck and automotive industry along with parts information
Service Technician Position
Hancock Repair is looking for a skilled automotive service technician to join our growing truck and automotive repair team. The applicant in this role will be responsible for servicing cars and trucks brought into the shop, from basic maintenance and minor repairs to full vehicle service. The ideal candidate we are seeking needs to have a background in automotive care, as well as experience with electronic systems maintenance.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspect vehicles from customer requests and/or concerns
- Perform basic maintenance that includes tires and alignment, checking fluid levels, and changing oil
- Inspect and repair or replace worn parts and systems such as spark plugs, wheel bearings, brake pads, fuel systems, and sensors
- Perform tests on systems and individual parts to ensure proper working condition and/or degree of damage
- Follow proper auto repair workflow to ensure thorough examination of all parts and systems
- Identify mechanical and electrical problems with both computerized diagnostic equipment and the naked eye
- Consider thorough repair measures from research, peer-to-peer examination, and past automotive service repairs
- Present accurate estimates to customers that includes strategy for repair to customers along with clear explanation of problems, procedure steps
- Perform automotive repairs efficiently, taking into account original repair strategy and customer specifications
- Ensure customer satisfaction at all times from start to finish of service
Requirements And Qualifications
- ASE certification a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Basic computer skills required
- Experience with electronic systems maintenance and repair
- Experience in engine performance and repair
- Good verbal communication skills to explain auto repair information to customers and other service technicians
- Be able to utilize critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
- Mechanically and detail orientated
- Physical strength and stamina, and ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted
